Graziela Preiser and her daughter Nina have re-launched the iconic and award-winning German label Graziela, which achieved cult status in the 1970s, to give today’s nurseries some retro cool. A new generation of children can grow up with the vibrantly patterned fabrics, bedlinen, posters and crockery loved by their parents. The 100% cotton bedlinen is made in Portugal, and the crockery and pictures are made in Germany.

Camphill Products are created in Camphill Communities in England and Wales by people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and other special needs. The bricks are made by the Botton Village community in North Yorkshire. The wood is supplied by Botton’s own sawmill, which uses almost exclusively Botton-grown timber. "It is our strong belief that every individual needs the opportunity to engage in meaningful work and to see the result of his or her efforts formed in a product or service that is wanted and needed by someone else. The knowledge of having done something worthwhile during the course of the day, to create something that is beautifully crafted, useful and above all appreciated and wanted, gives tremendous confidence, self esteem and fulfilment."

Her designs are classic and practical, evoking a simpler, innocent era with their use of retro patterns and naive motifs in a striking palette of colours. Jane Foster lives in Totnes, Devon with her partner Jim and her daughter. She's been screen printing for many years now and is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design. She particularly likes design from the 50's and 60's and has a large collection of fabrics and ceramics from these periods. Old Rectory was founded in 2010 by sisters Joanna and Stephanie Sloan in Wicklow, Ireland. With seven boys between them they wanted to create clothes that last and are kind to children and to the environment. Inspired by their surroundings of farmland and countryside, as well as their grandfather’s wildlife sketch and scrap book, the vibrant prints are designed in Ireland and printed onto organic cotton in Portugal, with the exception of the rabbit rompers which are made in Turkey to stringent ethical standards. The company won Gold for Best Craft-Based Start-Up Business in the Irish National Start-Up Awards 2012.

Set up in 2009, Pili Pala’s (meaning ‘butterfly’ in Welsh) soft organic cotton, recycled fabric and bamboo baby and children’s clothes are all designed and made in Wales. Everything’s easy to wear and easy to care for, and most of the clothes are designed to last longer by being trans-seasonal and unisex. The suede soles of the slippers are made from offcuts from either a local book-binder/upholsterer or a local leatherworker.
